LeBron James has one of the most storied careers in recent memory. We have never seen a prodigy in sport have the expectation set on them as we did with an 18-year-old LeBron coming into the NBA as the #1 overall pick. His career has been nothing short of a movie as he has managed to live up to the calling of ‘The Chosen One’.

LeBron had a tough life growing up, with an absent father and a mother working extremely hard to make sure her son’s basketball dream could be fulfilled. But LeBron’s prodigious talent was on display since his freshman year in high school and he put on a show until he graduated, with his high school games occasionally out-selling the league-worst Cleveland Cavaliers at the time.

It seems we will finally get the documentary of a young LeBron James in the form of a live-action adaptation of his 2009 book called ‘Shooting Stars’, which has been under production since 2018 and is scheduled for a 2023 release, 20 years after LeBron graduated high school. The first-look of the movie with young LeBron and young Carmelo Anthony has been shared.

The movie is set to feature Juwan Howard’s son Jett Howard as Carmelo Anthony, while LeBron will be played by Marquis ‘Mookie’ Cook, a 5-star recruit from the class of 2023. Mookie is already committed to playing for the Oregon Ducks upon completion of high school.

The movie features ‘Stranger Things’ star Caleb McLaughlin, who will be a member of the St. Vincent-St. Mary Fab Five. McLaughlin will play Dre Joyce III, while other cast members are G League Ignite’s Scoot Henderson as Romeo Travis, Khalil Everage as Sian Cotton, and Avery Wills as Willie McGree. LeBron’s wife Savannah will be played by Kaitlyn Nichol, while Natalie Paul will play the role of Gloria James, LeBron’s mother.

This movie is bound to be a must-watch for all basketball fans, as we get to take a peek into LeBron’s early career and what helped fuel the legend that became the #1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.
