Ja Morant and the Memphis Grizzlies were eliminated in the second round by the Golden State Warriors. Of course, they still had a good season, and there’s no shame in losing to another contending team while missing one’s best player for a good portion of the series.

Like the rest of us, Ja Morant is currently watching the NBA from home, wondering who will win the Finals. He was recently asked about who he thinks would win the NBA Finals, and he joked that the Grizzlies would win, stating that “even when we lose, we still win”:

“Us. Cause even when we lose, we still win.”

“Us. Cause even when we lose, we still win.”

There’s no doubt that even if the Memphis Grizzlies won’t be winning a championship this year, they have a bright future. After the end of the series, Warriors star Stephen Curry expressed respect for the Grizzlies, claiming that “they’ll be here for a long time”:

I have a lot of respect for every single guy on that team in terms of how they’re built as a group, individual talent. They have a lot of energy, a lot of potential in terms of winning at the highest level. They were the higher seed for a reason, they had an amazing regular season and dominated over the course of the 82 games… There’s definitely respect, there’s definitely an understanding that they made us better, I’m sure we’ve made them better. Who knows what happens down the road, but they’ll be here for a long time just because they have a lot going on for them. Definitely respect.

Hopefully, we see the Memphis Grizzlies get to the Finals at some point in the future. They finished as the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference this season, and now that they have more experience, they should be a force to be reckoned with next season.

Ja Morant will be crucial for the Memphis Grizzlies’ success in the future. He has already developed into an All-NBA caliber player, and we’ll see just how far he can take his game going forward.
