Dejounte Murray was named an All-Star substitute on Monday night, replacing Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green. The San Antonio Spurs young guard has played at a high level this season, earning a lot of attention around the league with his remarkable performances.

The 25-year-old is now a one-time All-Star and everybody was happy for him. The player recalled all the things he lived to be where he is right now, even sharing an old tweet when he expressed his desire to become an All-Star.

He was showered in praise after the announcement and even LeBron James had something to say about him. Rich Paul recalled that Murray was overlooked by a lot of people due to his background, congratulating him for making it this far when many didn’t have high expectations for him.

“I was told at[Dejounte Murray] had background issues. He was passed up by several teams because of it, left in the green room! Today he’s an AllStar!!”

LeBron reacted to this tweet, expressing his love and admiration for the young Spur, who keeps shocking the world with his incredible play. James has supported him since day 1 and this is the confirmation that he’s doing things the right way.

“LOVE that kid!! Been in his ear since day 1. PROUD OF YOU [Dejounte Murray],” James tweeted on Monday.

Murray has an inspiring story and this is a terrific way to show that no matter how hard it gets, as long as you want it, you can achieve anything in life. He wasn’t the favorite coming into the NBA, but the Spurs saw something in him and didn’t miss the chance to land him.

Now, he’s an All-Star, trying to take the Spurs to the top spots again in a competitive Western Conference. San Antonio knows how to find talent and Murray is another proof of that.
