LeBron James Had The Perfect Season With The 2013 Miami Heat

There’s absolutely no doubt that LeBron James is one of the greatest, most dominant basketball players of all time. Regardless of where you stand about him, that’s just a fact.

Throughout his 17 years in the NBA, James has put out a remarkable, almost flawless resume. He’s one of the winningest, most impactful athletes ever and he’s recorded some of the most impressive seasons we’ve ever seen.

But, even among all the remarkable seasons he’s put together throughout his career, perhaps none of those stands out like the 2012-13 season he had with the Miami Heat. Some may argue that it was the perfect season and it’ll be tough to debate that one.

28-year old LeBron James led the Miami Heat to a 66-16 record in the regular season. He averaged 26.8 points, 8.0 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.4 three-pointers per game on 56/40/75 shooting splits while making 76 appearances and playing 37.9 minutes per game.

That kind of impact on both ends of the court made LeBron win the Most Valuable Player award ahead of Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, and even Kobe Bryant. Moreover, he finished in 2nd for Defensive Player of the Year, trailing only Marc Gasol.

The Miami Heat was clearly the team to beat entering the playoffs, they were coming off a 27-game winning streak and LeBron was named to the All-NBA and All-Defense 1st team. He was on a mission and wasn’t going to be stopped.

The Heat swept the Milwaukee Bucks in the 1st round of the playoffs, then beat the Chicago Bulls in 5 games, and finally defeated the Indiana Pacers in 7 games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

If that wasn’t enough, the team orchestrated an epic comeback in Game 6 of the NBA Finals vs. the San Antonio Spurs. They forced Game 7 and ended up winning the Championship. LeBron averaged 25.3 points, 10.9 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 2.3 steals per game on 44% shooting, thus taking home the Finals MVP award for the second year in a row.
