Alex Caruso gets a fresh start next season in a whole new team. A true fan favorite with the Los Angeles Lakers, Caruso left in free agency to join the Chicago Bulls this season, linking up with former teammate Lonzo Ball to play back-up point guard.
Fans of the Lakers were sad to see Caruso go, as he had become one of the most beloved players in the franchise, only behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis in terms of popularity.
Furthermore, Caruso proved himself to be extremely valuable to the franchise during their 2020 NBA Championship run in the Orlando Bubble, coming up with big defensive plays for the Lakers in key moments.
With Chicago, Caruso can take the next step of his career. While he will continue to play a backup role off the bench, his importance to the Bulls is far more than it was to the Lakers. And he has a new jersey number to cement his move to Chicago, one that LeBron will be all too familiar with.
Alex Caruso took to Instagram to post his new Bulls jersey, revealing that he is now donning the number 6. LeBron James, who is also making the switch back to number 6, replied to Caruso calling him his twin and asking for his jersey, potentially in a swap after a Lakers-Bulls encounter.
“My twin I need that 6 jersey ASAP!”
Caruso became a sensation in Los Angeles because of his incredible hustle on the defensive end of the court. His connection and chemistry with Lakers superstar LeBron James made him one of the most beloved players in the franchise.
In fact, Caruso became so popular that fans attempted to vote him into the NBA All-Star game on multiple occasions.
But Caruso was seeking a bigger contract this offseason, something the Lakers felt they could not give him. So the Chicago Bulls signed him to a 4-year, $37 million contract with the hope that he can replicate the effort on defense he showed with the Los Angeles Lakers.
