LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers continue to sink further this season. Last night, the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in embarrassing fashion. The Lakers were poor on most fronts last night, especially when it came to making shots from beyond the arc.

LeBron James spoke after the game about the Lakers’ shooting concerns. When a member of the press asked LeBron James about what the Lakers need to do to get better, the former NBA champion gave a pretty simplistic and slightly obvious response (0:12 onwards).

“We gotta make shots. It’s that obvious. Teams are daring us to shoot the ball from outside and we’re not making them… We just have to make shots. It’s not rocket science. Just make shots.”

The Los Angeles Lakers went a terrible 10-45 from the three-point line as a team. That is close to 20% as a team. Such shooting numbers will be a massive cause for concern for the Los Angeles Lakers. The NBA is a very three-point-oriented league now, and any team that can’t make shots from deep is bound to fail in the long run.

LeBron James scored just 19 points last night. This season has pretty much become about LeBron’s scoring accolades this season, as the Lakers have had nothing else to celebrate. James, who is the oldest player on the team, is still the best player on the squad by some margin. Things need to change quickly if the Lakers want any chance to salvage their season.

The Lakers’ best hope to make the playoffs this season will be through the play-in tournament. At this point, given how the Lakers have played and the teams they are yet to play, the Lakers have no other choice but to contend through the play-in, for the second consecutive season.
