The stars that make up the NBA catch all the spotlight that the league has to offer. While they are the main event by far, there is a whole ecosystem that orbits the league as well. This includes the media, agents, trainers, executives, and fans as well. All of these people play various roles in making the league what it is today, even though the players remain primary stakeholders in the entire operation.

The media is arguably the most volatile of these pillars, their hunger for stories and narratives often ends up with them clashing with players. Some analysts are tight with the players they speak highly of, Shannon Sharpe and LeBron James being good examples of this. And during the Lakers’ narrow win over the Grizzlies recently, Sharpe surprisingly became a main character.

Shannon Sharpe got into a heated argument with players of the Memphis Grizzlies, including the likes of Steven Adams, Dillon Brooks, and Ja Morant. And the situation got even more intense when Ja’s father Tee Morant got involved on the sidelines as well. The former football star didn’t back down, he seemingly wanted all the smoke, and while he explained his side of it after, some didn’t think he was right to act how he did. One man isn’t hating on Sharpe though, and that’s the King himself.

LeBron James Spoke Highly Of Shannon Sharpe After His Argument With The Grizzlies

Shannon Sharpe doesn’t have the respect of every NBA star, Kevin Durant has called him out in the past. However, the relationship he shares with LeBron James is different. When asked about the incident on the court after the Lakers won, James left no doubt in the minds of those that might wonder if he likes Shannon Sharpe or not.

“I ride with Shannon 365 days — 366 on a leap year — 24/7. So that’s my guy. I always got his back. And he’s got mine. He can talk with the best of them, for sure.”

These are strong words from LeBron James, he has a lot of appreciation for the way Shannon Sharpe supports him as an analyst. Even outside of that, Sharpe had an amazing career himself even before his media appearances, so clearly there is a lot of respect for who he is as well. Shannon has to be feeling good after listening to James say this.
