LeBron James and his wife Savannah have been together since high school and are one of the strongest couples in the NBA world. While other players have had a rocky love life, LeBron has remained committed to his wife and family, showing he’s great both on and off the court.
Back in 2012, the then Miami Heat player sat down with Oprah Winfrey to discuss his professional and personal life. At some point, he was asked about the night he proposed to his wife, revealing interesting details, including Dwyane Wade holding the ring for him during the night and trying to keep it away from Savannah.
The King said that he was extremely nervous and felt himself in the prior moments to an NBA Finals game.
“I was nervous. It felt like before a Finals Game. I was very nervous. My teammates, D-Wade, Chris [Bosh], I asked them, I was like, ‘man, I’m thinking doing it on New Year’s, ’cause we were having a New Year’s party and I know my teammates and my friends and family’s gonna be there and I thought I was ready to make the next step of my commitment with Savannah and I was like, ‘I think it’s time.’ I had D-Wade hold the ring for me all night. I didn’t want her to bump up against me and felt the ring. He was like, ‘you ready?’ and I was like, ‘if you don’t give me this ring right now, I ain’t going to do it.”
Fortunately, Bron took the challenge and went for it, asking Savannah the biggest question of their life. Mrs. James said ‘yes’ and they’re now happily married, with three kids and a strong marriage.
LeBron has been to 10 NBA Finals during his career, playing against impressive teams and legendary players, but he wasn’t as nervous during those games as when he asked Savannah to marry him.
They’re a power couple, just like Wade and Gabrielle Union, and fans hope to see them going strong for the rest of the year. They have a lovely family and a clean record, without any controversy. The James family has come a long way, and you love to see how this love story developed.
