LaVar Ball is rather notorious for his trash talk, and it’s gotten him into trouble more than a few times.
When it comes to his sons, however, they’re a little better at holding their tongue.
Ahead of their third matchup on Monday night, Lonzo Ball talked about what it was like facing his brother at the highest stage of competition, and he confirmed that the two of them always manage to keep things civil.
“My Dad is always talking. But as far as me and Melo, we haven’t really said too much,” Lonzo said. “We still just talk regular just as brothers, not really going against each other.”
Lonzo and LaMelo are certainly not the first brother combo to play in the league at the same time, and they’re not even the only pair in action right now. But they might be the most interesting, especially given what we know about their family, their journey, and the amazing talent they’ve developed.
Growing up together in Southern California, the Ball kids were instilled with a passion and hunger for the game right away, and that’s probably why they’ve found so much success.
Even now, Lonzo attributes his passing and playmaking ability to his training sessions as a child.
“Probably my Pops just teaching us how to play at an early age, always looking up the floor and finding the open man. So definitely was instilled by our father.”
Needless to say, their story is an incredible one, and much is still waiting to be written.
The hope for fans, and for LaVar, is that the brothers will get to play as teammates again one day, just like they were for years growing up.
Until then, we get to keep enjoying their battles and witness for ourselves how far they’ve come.
