Lonzo Ball Says DeMar DeRozan Should Be The 2022 NBA MVP: “He’s Showing Everybody That He Should Definitely Be MVP This Year.”

DeMar DeRozan is playing at a high level right now, proving doubters wrong, demonstrating he’s still a top 20 player in the league with the Chicago Bulls. After spending the last three seasons with the San Antonio Spurs, DeRozan was considered a former player by many, but he’s shown that’s not true.

He lived a magical week last one, becoming the first player ever to make a buzzer-beater in back-to-back days, sending the entire NBA into a frenzy with his crazy shots. He has earned a lot of recognition around the league and is now an MVP candidate in the eyes of many.

Lonzo Ball, who also landed in Chicago during the offseason, praised DeRozan for his level, calling him the MVP over the rest of the candidates like Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“DeMar has been a star in this league for a long time, and I think this is probably his best year, to me,” Ball said, via NBC Chicago. “He’s showing everybody that he should definitely be MVP this year. He’s our go-to guy. We always have faith in him when he has the ball in his hands, and as you can see, he comes through for us pretty much every time, and he gives everybody kind of that calm demeanor and helps everybody sail the ship to where it needs to go.”

Lonzo isn’t the only one making a case for DeRozan. Kevin Garnett recently named him his second candidate to take the prize home, only behind Stephen Curry. The Bulls are having a terrific season and DeMar has played a key role in that.

The veteran swingman has proven he still got it and the Bulls can’t be happier about it. In 32 games this season, he averages 26.9 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game, while shooting 49.4% from the field and 85.8% from the free-throw line.
