Luka Doncic And Giannis Antetokounmpo Are The Betting Favorites To Win The 2022-23 MVP

3 Min Read

The modern basketball era is one that features a lot of talent. Almost every single team in the league has an All-Star caliber player on their roster. However, even in an era with a lot of stars, some players stand out more than others.

There are only a select number of players that have a legitimate chance of winning the MVP award every year. There is no doubt that one has to play at an extremely high level to be considered an MVP-caliber player.

An article by Kurt Helin of NBC Sports revealed that the two favorites for winning the award next season are Luka Doncic and Giannis Antetokounmpo. Both players are considered superstars in the league and are insane offensive engines that can carry the scoring load for a team.

But if not Jokic, then who? Which players are the favorite to grab the MVP trophy? The list starts with Luka Doncic. From our partners at Points Bet, here are the dozen players with the lowest odds to win NBA MVP next season (the odds are how much you would win on a $100 bet).

Luka Doncic +450

Giannis Antetokounmpo +600

Joel Embiid +600

Nikola Jokic +1000

Kevin Durant +1000

Stephen Curry +1000

Jayson Tatum +1200

Ja Morant +1400

Devin Booker +2200

Kawhi Leonard +2500

Trae Young +2500

LeBron James +2500

Luka Doncic is a three-level shot creator with top-tier playmaking ability, while Giannis Antetokounmpo is a dominant force near the rim offensively and an elite rim protector on the defensive end. Both players have the ability to put up insane individual numbers, and it is easy to see why they’re the favorites for the award. Notably, many people believe Luka Doncic has the potential to win multiple MVPs during his career, and perhaps next year will feature him winning his first one.

It remains to be seen if either player ends up winning the MVP award, and there are definitely other players on that list that have a solid chance of winning, such as Joel Embiid and Kevin Durant. However, it is clear that Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic are the favorites for a reason and both seem primed for elite seasons next year.
