Young stud Luka Doncic is leading the Dallas Mavericks to prosperity in the West. In just four seasons, Luka has become a bona fide superstar with the Mavs and took them as far as the Western Conference Finals last year.

But after failing to land any big-name free agents and losing their All-Star guard Jalen Brunson, there is a sense that the Mavericks are worse now than they were a year ago.

Luka Doncic Says He Doesn’t Need Another Star On The Mavericks

Unsurprisingly, Luka Doncic doesn’t agree with that narrative. In fact, as he revealed in a chat with Malika Andrews, he thinks his team is good enough to win it all just as they are.

“No, I mean my team has great players. There is plenty underrated guys that I think should be talked about more. So, I don’t think so, we have a great team. For sure number one is Dorian Finney-Smith, he’s worked really really hard he’s one of the better defensive guys and if he’s open, he’s gonna make shots. You know, Spencer Dinwiddie is gonna have a big year, you talk about Christian Wood, he’s gonna be huge for us.”

The Mavs may have lost Brunson, but they are still a pretty solid team on paper. In the frontcourt, Dorian-Finney Smith isn’t star material, but he’s a great role player who provides size, rebounding, and scoring for Dallas as a primary wing player. There’s also Spencer Dinwiddie, who impressed experts in Brooklyn before his down year in D.C. If he can find his groove and elevate his game this season, it could do a lot to make Dallas more competitive in their conference. Let’s not forget about Christian Wood, who probably has the most untapped potential out of anyone on the team.

Of course, the biggest x-factor in all of this is Doncic himself. With the most talent and capabilities out of anyone, it will be his game that truly dictates how the season will play out.

All-in-all, the Mavericks have a great team, but it will be up to Luka to make it all work. According to team owner Mark Cuban, they may not even need another star to meet their goals.

No matter what you believe, it will be an interesting season in Dallas, to say the least. And it will be one that puts Doncic to the ultimate test.
