Mavericks star Luka Doncic wanted nothing to do with one Suns fan who crossed the line on Wednesday.  Leading up to the game against the Phoenix Suns, Doncic heard the heckling from one Suns fan who told him to “get on the treadmill” before he was later kicked from the game by Doncic himself.

“Luka Doncic asked security to eject this Suns fan, who was sitting two rows behind midcourt press row,” wrote Tim MacMahon. “The comment the fan made that drew Doncic’s wrath: ‘Luka, you’re tired! Get your ass on the treadmill!'”

While it was a good night for Luka (34 points, 9 assists, 8 rebounds), the same cannot be said of the Mavericks who were never able to recover after getting outscored 43-20 in the third quarter. it was an ugly loss for them at home, though it came without Kyrie Irving, who was a late scratch from the contest with a sprained thumb. As for Luka, he looked frustrated tonight and it’s clear that some of the good vibes that were so abundant early in the season are starting to run thin as the losses pile up.

Weight Problems For Luka?

For Luka, the struggle to stay in shape and maintain peak conditioning is an ongoing one. In the past, Doncic has been accused of getting himself go and restricting his own play due to being overweight on the court. At one point, it was revealed that Doncic was at 260 pounds during the season and it was just the beginning of his concerning habits. While much of the drama has died down in recent months, the ordeal clearly struck a nerve with Luka and he’s not about to tolerate that type of slander in his arena.

This season, Doncic has looked better than ever before and there is a sense that he’s ready to compete for something more than a first-round exit. For now, there remains a heavy sense of hesitation with the Mavericks and until they can get some more help for Luka and Irving, they will never be on the same level as the Conference elites.

Can Mavericks Make A Run?

The Mavericks are currently 8th in the West this season, which is about right on par with what most predicted. Together, Kyrie and Luka have created a potent offense in Dallas but without the proper size or personnel to guard the best teams, they lack the defensive edge needed to consistently win games and secure a top-four seed.

This deadline, expect the Mavs to be aggressive in their pursuit of defensive talent on the wings, in the backcourt, and in the middle to back up rookie big man Dereck Lively. Of course, everything for the Mavericks begins and ends with Luka and if he’s not happy then they aren’t going to get very far. No matter what it takes to appease the Slovenian star, the Mavericks will get it done, even if it means throwing a fan out of their arena.
