Luka Doncic On MVP Snub: “I Don’t Really Care…”

Bleacher Report

At this point, it’s no mystery that Nuggets star Nikola Jokic will be declared the 2021 MVP.

And while he is more than deserving of the recognition, there are some who would make the case for others: like Golden State’s Steph Curry and Dallas’ Luka Doncic.

In regards to the latter, however, he isn’t necessarily concerned with the MVP anyway. As Luka told the media after his team’s Game 1 win, all of his focus is on winning a Championship.

“I don’t really care about MVP, we have great players in this league. What’s important is [the] championship, and obviously, that’s our goal this season.”

After a rough start to the season, Luka led the team on a charge that saw them lock up the 5th seed.

With him, Kristaps Porzingis, and Tim Hardaway Jr., they have a solid core that is capable of putting up a real fight in any series.

While the Mavs did take this same Clippers team to 6 games back in 2020, they’re seen as even bigger underdogs this year. No doubt, it will take some major heroics from Luka for the Mavs to pull off the upset.

It’s a good thing for them that his priorities are in order.
