“Luka Was On A McChickens, Vodka And Hookah Diet All Summer. And Still Led The Mavs To The WCF,” NBA Journalist Praises ‘7-11’ Luka Doncic

3 Min Read

Luka Doncic had a series for the ages as he led the Dallas Mavericks to a stunning series win over the top-seeded Phoenix Suns in 7 games. Luka averaged a cool 32.6 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 7 assists per game as Dallas stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to win the series.

Game 7 in particular was an absolute annihilation, as the Mavericks crushed the Suns 123-90 in Phoenix to send shockwaves throughout the NBA universe. Luka was outstanding once again, as he put up a game-high 35 points and he now averages 38.3 points per game in elimination games, which is the highest in NBA history.

Doncic’s physique has been a topic of conversation during this series, with some urging him to get in shape if he wants to advance in the playoffs, and a Dallas reporter had some fun with that notion.

“Luka was on a McChickens, vodka and hookah diet all summer. And still led the Mavs to the WCF “

Luka has always caught flak for his body shape but it doesn’t seem to have much of an adverse effect on his play and in fact, that extra bit seems to help him impose his dominance on defenders, especially when he backs them down in the post. Someone who was getting a lot of plaudits for how well they take care of themselves was a certain Chris Paul and he caught some strays here as well!

It is hardly surprising that Mavericks fans and reporters are having some fun at Paul’s expense after he and Booker mocked Doncic after Game 2. Booker tends to his run his mouth a fair bit and fans were quick to point out we might have a meme moment with Luka laughing at Booker during the game. Doncic had called out the Suns after Game 5, saying “Everybody acting tough when they up” and he shut them up in Games 6 & 7.

Now, Dallas aims to pull off another big upset, as they go up against the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference finals. No one expected the Mavs to get this far and they are playing with house money at this point. That is in some ways, exactly the kind of team you do not want to face with the stakes this high, and the Suns can attest to that.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
