LeBron James put on a very strong performance in the Lakers’ Game 4 win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Even though he didn’t rack up the points, his impact was unmatched.

James ended the game with 22 points and 20 rebounds, the first 20-20 game of his career. He also made multiple clutch shots, which led to Magic Johnson praising his play on Twitter by calling it a ‘king-sized performance’.

Not only did James send the game to OT with a layup with 0.8 seconds left, but he also almost won them the game by hitting a near full-court shot after time expired. He hit the game-clinching layup in OT as well, scoring on Dillon Brooks to put the Lakers up 5 with less than 30 seconds on the clock.

Does LeBron James Need To Have A Larger Impact?

The Lakers won this game despite Anthony Davis having a nightmare offensive performance once again. Game 2 caused him to be mocked, but Game 4 was turning out to be even more egregious. Scoring from players like Austin Reaves helped the Lakers keep pace, as they hung their hat on defense to ensure the Grizzlies couldn’t capitalize on their offensive struggles.

LeBron James hasn’t tried to impose his will on the series so far. He is playing objectively great defense and hustling on the boards. The team may need him to step up offensively if AD continues having rough nights. Another win sends the Lakers to the second round with multiple days of rest before the winner of the Sacramento Kings vs. Golden State Warriors is crowned.
