Michael Jordan is widely regarded as the greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA. Evidently, during his career, he had some great rivalries, and overcoming them is one of the reasons why he is considered the GOAT. When we talk about Jordan’s rivalries, there’s no way to leave out his rivalry with Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons.

Prior to winning six NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan was stopped in the tracks several times by Isiah Thomas and the Pistons. The Pistons used to play an incredibly physical style of basketball to stop MJ.

It resulted in Zeke and Jordan becoming lifelong rivals. But one would think that after retiring from the NBA, the two legends may become finish their beef. Unfortunately, as per Thomas, that will never happen until Jordan publically apologizes to him.

Magic Johnson Explains Why Michael Jordan And Isiah Thomas Are Still Beefing

Just like Thomas and Jordan, Magic Johnson is one of the most iconic players of the older generation. Coincidentally, he is also a common friend of both the former NBA superstars.

During his most recent appearance on the ‘All The Smoke’ podcast, Magic explained why MJ and Thomas are yet to settle their beef. On top of that, the Los Angeles Lakers legend also promised to try and squash their beef.

(Starts at 0:22)

“I don’t like it. I think they should be done with that. Listen, we played when we played. We all had to dislike each other to win a championship. We all had to do what we had to do. But now, what Michael is doing is incredible. To be an owner in the NBA. His shoe is still No. 1. I mean, you can put all those guys’ shoes sales together; they can’t even mess with Michael Jordan’s shoes. And so and then, Isiah is a businessman himself, all the things that he’s doing. So, why are we still right living in the past?”

He added, “I’m definitely gonna try man, because they should be past it. They’re my boys. So, I guess I’m gonna have to be the one to bring them together.”

It’s good to see Magic step up and assure fans that he will be the one to bring Michael Jordan and Isiah Thomas together. Let’s hope Magic will succeed in doing so, and fans can see MJ and Thomas finally get past their decades-long beef.
