There are plenty of expectations surrounding Kevin Durant and his new adventure with the Brooklyn Nets. Even though he won’t make his debut with the team until next season, people have started to wonder how he will fare at the Barclays Center.
That said, some people have predicted he could be very good with Brooklyn, even leading the team to win the championship, something that would take his legacy to the next level. KD has been heavily criticized for his decision of joining the 73-win Golden State Warriors in 2016 and now has the chance to prove he can lead a team to win the championship on his own.
Discussing whether or not Durant and Kyrie Irving would live up to the expectations, ESPN’s Max Kellerman claimed that in the case that KD wins the title, he would be part of the GOAT conversation (4:54 mark):
“The numbers in his prime, and his passing and defense, which became excellent, suggest that he could be in the conversation for greatest player ever. Now he’s won championships and Finals MVP, but he’s not. And he’s not because he broke the code and joined the other team to put them over the top. If KD wins the championship in Brooklyn, as some lesser version of himself, he would be mentioned with LeBron and everyone else.”
Durantula is very motivated to make his debut with the Nets and finally join forces with Kyrie Irving. We’re pretty sure he has more than one reason to take Brooklyn to the promised land after winning two NBA championships with the Golden State Warriors.
Even though they were great together, Kevin surely wants to prove he can win without Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson by his side.
