The signing of Dennis Schroder generated a lot of buzz and excitement for Lakers fans. The point guard wasn’t star material, but he had been a dependable and explosive scorer for most of his career.
Unfortunately, for whatever reason, he failed to show up for the Purple and Gold when they needed him most, scoring a combined 28 points over the last three games of the series.
After Schroder suspiciously removed his Lakers affiliation from his bio, ESPN analyst Max Kellerman flamed him for his poor performance after Game 5.
0 points in Game 5. No evidence that he is currently the Lakers point guard https://t.co/EDjS3UAcic

That’s a pretty heavy roast from Max, and it’s not entirely untrue. If he’s going to go out and drop 0 points, it’s not much different than him not showing up to the game at all.
As for his future with the franchise, that much is still very much up in the air. While he has expressed a desire to return, Rob Pelinka is going to make some pretty big changes, and Schroder may or may not be a part of his plans.
We’ll just have to wait and see. But if Schroder wants to avoid roastings on social media going forward, he has to start playing better in the important moments.
