Michael Jordan is known obviously for what he did during his NBA career. However, he is also the governor of the Charlotte Hornets, and there is no doubt that he has many business ventures.

In 2020, Michael Jordan notably became a NASCAR team owner, signing Bubba Wallace as his first driver. He notably stated that he wanted to “educate a new audience and open more opportunities for Black people in racing” when he bought the team, and there’s no doubt that this is a great sentiment on his part.

“Historically, Nascar has struggled with diversity and there have been few Black owners,” Jordan said in his statement. “The timing seemed perfect as Nascar is evolving and embracing social change more and more.”

“I see this as a chance to educate a new audience and open more opportunities for Black people in racing,” Jordan said.

Today, the prominent NASCAR event is the Xfinity Race at Nashville. Michael Jordan was spotted at the race, alongside New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara. NASCAR races are well-known to be thrilling, and it is clear that both Jordan and Kamara were enjoying themselves.

Michael Jordan has definitely attended other NASCAR events in the past, notably being spotted at the Daytona 500 race prior to the NBA All-Star Game earlier this season.

Hopefully, we see Michael Jordan continue to attend more racing events in the future. NASCAR is definitely an entertaining sport to watch, and that must be even more true if one is the owner of a team and rooting for a particular racer. Having figures like Michael Jordan and Alvin Kamara support the sport is amazing. There’s no doubt that the mere presence of other athletes at NASCAR events and the publicity that comes with that will help the sport grow, and that is absolutely a good thing.
