The 1992 Dream Team for the United States included some of the greatest basketball players in the history of the sport. The best players in the world were representing Team USA heading into the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. And ahead of the tournament, Nike decided to spotlight their stars in a unique and awesome commercial.

Heading into the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Nike released a commercial that featured Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Charles Barkley, Chris Mullin, and John Stockton being represented by exaggerated animated versions of themselves, showing each player’s unique skills as they dominated opposing players.

Nike clearly wanted to showcase their athletes at the tournament, especially because Reebok had secured the rights to provide the athletic gear for Team USA at the Olympic games. Of course, fans will remember how Michael Jordan hid the Reebok logo during the medal ceremony because he wouldn’t promote any brand that wasn’t Nike.

The 1992 Dream Team – The Greatest Team Ever?

The 1992 Dream Team is considered by many to be the greatest team in the history of basketball. Putting all the best players in the world at the time on one squad to take on the rest of the world was a recipe for success. The Dream Team dominated the rest of the competition, beating their opponents by an average of 43.8 points during the tournament.

Michael Jordan was the star of the show, as he would lead Team USA to victory in Barcelona, winning his second gold medal in the process. His performance at the tournament was great, averaging 14.9 points per game.

There are people, however, who argue that the 2012 Team USA roster that also won Olympic Gold in London is better than their predecessors from 20 years before. Larry Bird had an epic response to Kobe Bryant, who claimed that his 2012 team would beat Bird’s 1992.
