Michael Jordan is considered a pop culture icon, a figure that not only transcended the sport of basketball, but sports as a whole. As a result, any time fans can get their hands on merchandise that Jordan wore during his career, they will pay top dollar for it. And now, another pair of Jordan’s worn sneakers could be sold for a high amount.

A pair of Michael Jordan sneakers that he wore during a game are now on sale at an auction. These particular sneakers are from Jordan’s legendary 1997 NBA Finals ‘Flu Game’, where Jordan put on a masterclass against the Utah Jazz despite being violently ill with the flu he caught the night before. There is a bid of $1,050,000 on the shoes right now.

Today marks the 26th anniversary of Jordan’s flu game, where he dropped 38 points against the Utah Jazz in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. There is some debate about what caused Jordan’s illness, with some claiming that Jordan had his pizza tampered with the night before, thus causing him to come down with a case of food poisoning.

Jordan’s Flu Game Is One Of The Greatest NBA Finals Performances

Michael Jordan put on one of the best performances in NBA Finals history during the flu game. It is hard to imagine how Jordan, who was feeling incredibly weak and fatigued, was able to put on the kind of performance that he did.

Jordan’s competitive spirit was on full display that night, as he showed the world just what he was willing to do to help his team get the win. Jordan himself was surprised by his performance, noting that he expected to play as a decoy during the game. Regardless of his illness, Jordan put on one of the greatest performances in NBA history.
