The Denver Nuggets won the 2023 championship, and there is no doubt that forward Michael Porter Jr. was a huge part of their success. His 3PT shooting and rebounding greatly helped the team in the postseason, but despite that, it seems as though the forward still has haters.

One of the key criticisms of Michael Porter Jr. is that he is a poor passer and frequently takes “bad” shots. Recently, Porter Jr. responded to the haters, claiming that he is one of the best 3PT shooters in the league and doesn’t see when people contest the ball.

“I’m aware of the little Michael ‘Never swing the rock’ Porter Jr… To be completely honest, I’m one of the best shooters in the league, like humbly. I don’t see contests [when I shoot the ball].”

There is no doubt that Michael Porter Jr. is a prolific shooter, and it is even more impressive that he is able to shoot at a high level at 6’10”. This past season, Michael Porter Jr. shot 41.4% from 3PT range while shooting 7.3 attempts a game, which is incredible efficiency.

Michael Porter Jr. had a solid overall year, averaging 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists. The next step for him is obviously developing his playmaking and defense, and hopefully, he takes strides in that department.

Michael Porter Jr. Once Shared The Details Of His Workout With Stephen Curry

As of right now, the best 3PT shooter in the league is superstar guard Stephen Curry. A lot of players with shooting ability often workout with him to try and learn a thing or two, including Michael Porter Jr. himself. Once Porter Jr. shared the details of working out with Curry, claiming that “conditioning” is the star’s best attribute while noting that he wants that along with attention to detail from the superstar.

Hopefully, we see Michael Porter Jr. become a star in the future. He certainly has the potential to do so, and his highly-efficient scoring will obviously be the key to that happening. However, he has to round out his game if he wants to be the best version of himself.

The Denver Nuggets will be among the contenders once again next season, and Michael Porter Jr. will be important for the team if they want to repeat. It’ll be interesting to see if he will have a bigger role with the team next year, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
