He may go under the radar at times, but Michael Porter Jr. is actually one of the better shooters in the NBA today. For his career, the 23-year-old has shot 50.6% from the field and 41.7% from beyond the arc.
Not only is he one of the better shooters, but Porter also has a very pretty and pure shooting form, which is quite aesthetically pleasing. So, during a recent interview with Taylor Rooks, he was asked to name the players in the league who he thinks have the prettiest shots, and he mentioned some big names.
“I think Klay Thompson’s shot is, like, picture-perfect,” Porter said. “Like, balance, elbow straight. Obviously, how Steph shoots, we work out quite a bit together and I just think his range. I admire shooting because there are two different ways guys shoot.
“Some guys shoot a push shot, and they can extend their range back. And then there’s, like, jump shooters who shoot kind of like me, with a higher release point,” Porter continued. “Like Damian Lillard, we saw it up close when he was giving us 50 in the playoffs a couple of years ago. Book (Devin Booker) has an amazing shot. He was killing us this year for a couple of games. But, yeah, that’s a few guys who I think are great shooters.”

Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Damian Lillard are the three greatest shooters of this generation, with all of them being on our top two tiers when it comes to the greatest three-point shooters of all time.
Devin Booker isn’t quite at their level, but has quite a smooth stroke, too, and as Porter mentioned, was absolutely terrorizing the Denver Nuggets for a couple of games in their playoff series.
Klay’s shot is probably the most perfect one of the lot, and his release is just so incredibly quick. When he gets going, it really is a pleasure to watch him operate on the court.
Michael Porter Jr. Will Have To Elevate His Game Next Season
Porter and the Nuggets are thrilled to have won the championship this season, but they have their eyes set on winning it all next year as well. For that to happen, though, Porter will need to up his game, especially with Bruce Brown having departed in free agency.
While I wrote about Porter’s great shooting, he struggled in the playoffs, as he averaged 13.4 PPG while shooting just 42.3% from the field and 35.1% from beyond the arc. It didn’t cost them, as Nikola Jokic was incredible, but the Serbian is going to need Porter to step up and deliver when it counts if the Nuggets are to repeat.
