If you want to be like the best, you have to train like the best.

That’s why Denver Nuggets rising star Michael Porter Jr reached out to Stephen Curry to work out with him ahead of training camp.

Unsurprisingly, Porter Jr was left in awe of Curry’s conditioning and work ethic, lauding his shooting skills and the way he gets ready for the season:

“MPJ worked out with Steph Curry in the Bay Area for a week this offseason. Porter said Curry’s best attribute is his conditioning and game-speed that he practices at. He said all their drills turned into shooting competitions,” reported Mike Singer of USA Today.

Curry has a unique way of getting ready for the season and working out on his handles, balance, and shooting. Clearly, it’s paid off, as he’s one of the most influential players of all time.

As for Michael Porter Jr, he’s got a bright future ahead of him. He’s got a versatile and pretty well-round skill set and the potential to become a generational scorer, although his defense has left a lot to be desired.

The Denver Nuggets will lean heavily on him next season while Jamal Murray continues to work on his rehab, so it’s great to see that he’s looking forward to getting better.

Also, reigning MVP Nikola Jokic reportedly showed up early to training camp and in the best shape of his career, so you can tell that the Nuggets have a chip on their shoulder and are ready to prove their doubters wrong once and for all.

If Michael Porter Jr can step up and improve from last season and Murray comes back at full strength, they’d be a huge threat out of the Western Conference, that’s for sure.
