NBA 2K21 Says Clippers Will Not Win The NBA Title This Season

2 Min Read

Most NBA fans, experts, and analysts will tell you that the L.A. Clippers should be favored to win the Championship this season. Considering all the talent L.A. currently has on its roster, it’s easy to imagine the team holding the Larry O’Brien by the end of the playoffs.

But according to NBA 2k21, the Clippers will fall short of that goal this campaign. For some reason, in-game commentary talks about how the Clips “didn’t get it done” despite being “picked by many to win the title.”

David Aldridge (in-game): “The Clippers were picked by many to win the title last year. Now, they didn’t get it done, but Kawhi Leonard is not concerned. He said ‘we’ve just got to keep getting better, keep fighting. It’s about the right team peaking at the right time.’ Guys, they’re hoping this season, their talent and their fight will in out.”

The community has been bending over backward trying to find an explanation, with some even joking that this was proof the NBA is rigged.

Since the NBA pre-records a lot of their dialogue (and then cuts it down depending on what transpires), it’s more likely that they inserted some audio that was supposed to be cut.

Remember, 2k games usually come out in the offseason, not during gameplay. This year, with COVID-19, the timing of the game and the NBA season is a bit out of wack.

So, before you whip up the conspiracy talks, perhaps it’s better to consider how the current pandemic has impacted sports and the timeline of businesses that depend on them. 2k should definitely patch their game, but they might not be completely to blame for some of the things that have slipped through the cracks this year.
