Kyrie Irving was one of the main talking points in the NBA during the 2021-22 season, and he continues to be one now, well into the offseason. It seemed like all the drama surrounding his future might have come to an end when he opted into his player option, but Kevin Durant requesting a trade has changed all that.

Irving now seemingly wants a move to the Los Angeles Lakers, and by the looks of it, that’s what Lakers fans want too. They started chanting “We want Kyrie” at a Summer League game when Russell Westbrook, who would have to be traded if Irving is to get to the Lakers, was in attendance. While Irving has danced around the topic in public, it looks like he might have just dropped a huge update on when a potential move might happen.

Irving was indeed at that LA Sparks game a couple of days back, and as added proof, the fan also sent an image that showed he was sitting not too far from the star guard.

Brian Windhorst had earlier reported that it was just a matter of time before the trade gets done, and if this fan did indeed hear Kyrie say that, then we might be in for some big news soon. LeBron James has apparently been putting some pressure on the Lakers to sort out a trade for Irving as the team seemed to be hesitant to part with draft picks to acquire him.

If this trade does actually end up going through, then the Lakers will return to being serious contenders for the title once again. They will have their eyes set on a repeat of 2020 when they bounced back from missing the playoffs in 2019 to becoming NBA champions. They had acquired Anthony Davis via trade during that offseason as a means to get back to the top, and this Irving deal has the potential to help them do that once again.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely.
