The Dallas Mavericks struggled with the Phoenix Suns during the first two games of their second-round series. There’s no doubt that Game 3 was a different story, however, as Luka Doncic and Jalen Brunson managed to lead the Mavericks to a convincing win against the Phoenix Suns. Luka Doncic had 26 points, 13 rebounds, and 9 assists, while Jalen Brunson had a spectacular performance as well, tallying 28 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists.

A lot of NBA fans were hyped after this performance from the duo. A lot of people praised the Mavericks guards, though others also took their chance to criticize Chris Paul’s performance, as he only finished with 12 points and 7 turnovers.

The Dallas Mavericks definitely needed someone to step up offensively next to Luka Doncic. It is good to see that Jalen Brunson was able to do so, and prior to this game, coach Jason Kidd even noted that the Mavericks weren’t going to win with only Luka Doncic scoring 30 points.

He had a great game, but no one else showed… We can’t win with just him out there scoring 30 a night, not at this time of the year.

It remains to be seen if the Dallas Mavericks are able to repeat what they did in Game 3 over the course of the rest of the series. They clearly figured some things out on both ends of the floor, and hopefully, that continues. The Phoenix Suns won’t be an easy opponent to beat though, and they’ll likely come out strong in Game 4.

The Dallas Mavericks are definitely the underdogs in this series, but they have a shot of winning this series behind Luka Doncic’s brilliance. Luka Doncic has shown that be can carry the scoring load for extended periods of time, but we’ll see if anyone can continue to step up next to him.
