  • Fans debate which modern NBA player is closest to Scottie Pippen
  • Pippen was an elite two-way player
  • Pippen helped the Bulls win six NBA Championships during the 1990s

Scottie Pippen played a crucial role during the Chicago Bulls’ reign of terror in the NBA during the 1990s. Pippen was the second-best player for the Bulls when the organization won six NBA Championships.

But is there any player who is even close to Pippen’s level? Well, NBA fans on Reddit recently tried to answer the question. Keep in mind that Pippen averaged 20.0 points, 7.3 rebounds, 6.0 assists, 2.2 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game during his prime years.

“Iguodala’s skill set reminded me of Pippen, a long-wing defender who can handle the ball and score when needed. Iggy didn’t score as much as he wasn’t even the second option on the Warriors, but they were pretty close play style-wise,” a fan claimed.

“This is the best comparison peak 76ers Iggy, though,” another fan answered.

“I would also say Wiggins,” a fan suggested.

“Jimmy, probably. Point forward with elite team defense,” a fan named Jimmy Butler as the closest player to Scottie Pippen.

“Jimmy Butler. Point forward types with a focus on defense and playmaking,” another fan said.

“He’s not consistently healthy these days, but I’d say Kawhi fits that build well, too,” one fan thinks.

“LeBron is the better version of Pippen, he’s always been more like Pippen and Magic than Jordan, imo,” a fan gave a unique answer.

“2016 Kawhi was probably the closest stylistically, but he wasn’t the same playmaker. Jimmy is probably the closest today,” another fan named Leonard and Butler as modern-day Pippen.

“In three years, we will be saying Ausar Thompson,” one fan said.

NBA fans gave various answers to the question. But the most popular choices were Andre Iguodala and Jimmy Butler. Some suggested that prime Kawhi Leonard was close to prime Scottie Pippen due to their similar physiques and defensive prowess.

While others think that Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James is a much better version of the Chicago Bulls legend.

LeBron James Once Compared His Game To Scottie Pippen

LeBron James is usually compared to Michael Jordan in the GOAT debate. But when it comes to his playing style, it’s probably more similar to Scottie Pippen or Magic Johnson.

In fact, James himself once revealed that he modeled his game after Pippen. He also added that Penny Hardaway is another player who he finds his game similar to.

“Scottie Pippen and Penny Hardaway was like my two,” James said. “‘Cause I seen myself in them. Like, I saw myself in Pippen and Penny. Tall guards, point forward, getting everybody involved, defending all type of positions.”

So, it seems like the modern-day version of Scottie Pippen is none other than LeBron James. But James is arguably better than Pippen in almost every aspect. Be it scoring, rebounding, or playmaking.
