NBA fans wasted no time in sharing their two cents on Ja Morant’s suspension.

The Memphis Grizzlies guard has been suspended for 25 games for the upcoming 2023-24 season, and this drew mixed reactions from fans. While one segment felt it was in the ballpark of what was expected, some believed that Ja deserved a lengthy break from the sport. This development comes on the back of the guard flashing a gun on Instagram Live for the second time, triggering a deep investigation by the league.

Moving on to the reactions. One segment of fans felt the move was just about right.

One fan felt it would be 35 games by the time Ja found his groove, but also criticized Adam Silver.

“Still get to play 57 Games! Everybody wins! I will be watching this upcoming @NBA season now. That it’s not half or whole season,” a fan opined.

The Miles Bridges comparison wasn’t far away.

Some felt this was significant.

A fan felt this would put Ja back on track.

Grizzlies fans were glad it wasn’t a whole year.

“The potential for other young people to emulate Ja’s conduct is particularly concerning,” Silver said in a statement released Friday. “… For Ja, basketball needs to take a back seat at this time.”

Perhaps, this will serve as a timely reminder for other players to be more mindful.

How Will This Suspension Impact Ja Morant’s Career?

While 25 games might not seem much of a punishment, those who did witness Ja’s activities at the Denver nightclub in March will know that this is a second chance for him to change and get his objectives right. The crackdown was inevitable, but it was necessary to also put a player in a place where he/she needs to know the impact the actions could have.

The suspension also comes at a cost for Ja, who will miss out on millions of dollars, not to mention potential endorsement opportunities. On that note, he also now has a chance to reform and recalibrate to become a better personality. If he could make a miraculous comeback with some stellar performances, there is no doubt that he will indeed be looked at as an inspiration again. But can he? Only time will tell.
