Jordan Poole has earned himself quite a few plaudits and significant love from the Golden State Warriors fans with the way he has broken out this season, he is also in the franchise’s long terms plans. Poole has become a consistent 20-point per game type scorer and he carried those stats into his first-ever playoff run, being quite impressive against the Denver Nuggets and in the early part of the Memphis Grizzlies series in particular.

He shot some excellent percentages in the Western Conference Finals as well, but overall, Poole’s numbers have fallen off drastically since the halfway mark of the Grizzlies series. The youngster averaged 23 points per game in his first 8 playoff games on excellent efficiency, shooting 57% from the field but in his last 9, that has dropped to 13 points per game on 46%.

Poole has scored more than 20 points just 2 times in the last 10 playoff games and didn’t even break single digits against the Celtics’ defense in Game 1 of the NBA Finals. As such, fans on Reddit reacted with some dismay to these performances

“The talk about him being another Steph Curry might be premature.”

“No way this is the third Splash Brother.”

“The Celtics have shut down the Poole party, dunno what to tell ya.”

“This is just his first real playoff run, so I get it.”

“They started crowning this kid too early. He’s good, but everyone takes time to become consistent.”

“Poole needs to step it up in these Finals, the slander might get difficult to handle otherwise.”

“About 2 days ago I had a bunch of Warriors fans pissed at me for saying he’d never be a superstar lol.”

“He’s young, cut him some slack. That being said he’s essentially the Tyler Herro in this series. If he’s not smoking offensively, he’s a massive liability out there.”

“Derrick white and smart are on him so it’s understandable.”

“I wish people just chill a little. Poole is only 22 years old.”

“It’s his first postseason bruh, this is normal. Plus, you should use IA/75 and rTS to actually show a change since he’s facing better defenses.”

This is a sort of ‘welcome to the playoffs’ moment for Poole, with both Dallas and Boston playing great defense. He has shown the ability to get past most players though, so even though his stats have dropped a little, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him have a massive game in the Finals also.
