The Los Angeles Lakers are currently, once again, relying on an aging LeBron James to somehow lead them to the NBA Playoffs. LeBron failed last season while playing on a horribly constructed roster with a stubborn Russell Westbrook and injured Anthony Davis.

This season started out horribly for the 2-10 Lakers, but inspired form from AD and Russ moving to the bench helped the team improve their record to the 13-17 it is at today. However, AD has gotten hurt again and LeBron is looking more exhausted than ever carrying the Lakers on the court.

A picture from the Lakers loss to the Kings, where LeBron had his fifth consecutive efficient 30-point game, showed how tough this physical load is becoming for LBJ.

LeBron needs help and that is undisputable. Basketball is a team sport. While many have mocked LeBron for being on superteams for years, this roster without James on it is arguably among the worst in the NBA. Even with the star, they don’t seem to be faring much better,

LeBron James Is No Longer The Player He Used To Be

The numbers would suggest that LeBron is finding ways to expand his offensive game over his career to stay effective and among the best in the league. However, he doesn’t have the same physical tools that would allow him to just dominate games and pull out wins.

We saw what LBJ achieved in the 2018 playoffs. Granted, that roster was still better than this, but people thought the Cavaliers would fail that year after a tough regular season.

James is no longer that guy, with age clearly taking a toll on him. He will be crowned the greatest scorer in league history this season, but we’re truly in the final stage of LBJ’s career.
