Victor Wembanyama’s skills on the basketball floor have seen him labeled as the next generational superstar, and NBA fans were in awe of his unbelievable high jump hook.

A Redditor posted an image of Wembanyama’s jump hook from one of his best moments for the Mets92, calling his shot unblockable.

“It’s not just unblockable. It’s uncontestable. If he can get to that position, you can’t even block his vision, let alone get close to the shot. The defenders are literally looking at his crotch,” the fan wrote.

He further added:

If he really polishes this stuff, I think guys are gonna end up playing dirty against him because trying to beat him up and push him off the spot might be the only thing a lot of them can do.

In the video below, (the shot in topic starts at 32:00 onwards), Wembanyama’s incredible jump hook can be seen where the opponents are in no place to be able to contest him.

Sharing their thoughts were other NBA fans:

“This is his real strength. I actually hate watching him trying to do weird one-legged 3s and risking landing his ankles all awkwardly. If he just makes this shot his “Tim Duncan Bank Shot” he’ll be an extremely efficient big man for 15-20 years.”

“I don’t know why more bigs don’t do it. Jump hooks are not difficult shots, especially when you’re that tall.”

“Looks like Mister Fantastic in that picture.”

“Not sure if you want Wemby to defend you on every possession. His defense is just great, he knows how to use his body so well that it’s frightening for a 19-year-old.”

“I know he’s playing against lower-level competition, but the fact that he’s simultaneously shutting down the shot from the ball handler and pass to the roll, the man is pretty wild.”

“Wemby is amazing in drop coverage due to his length.”

“He’s going to average a healthy 4-5 blocks in his first 15 games while teams try to adjust.”

Wembanyama’s game has had scouts and experts rate him highly, and as the 2023-24 season starts, all eyes will be on the Frenchman to see how he fares in the high-octane competition.

Draymond Green Explains How He Will Guard Victor Wembanyama

Golden State Warriors veteran forward Draymond Green has his plan worked out against Victor Wembanyama.

“You got to press up to him,” Green said during an appearance on Podcast P.

“You can’t let him get comfortable. If you let him get comfortable you lose because you’re not blocking his shot. He may not even see your contest like he’s 7’5″, he shoots the ball up here. So with a guy like that, you gotta do your work early. I‘m crowding him from the time he starts running up and down the court. When they get the rebound and they start coming I’m crowding because I can’t let him get to a space where he’s comfortable.”

This does seem like a logical plan, one that other teams will try and incorporate to see if they can keep the San Antonio Spurs quiet. But expect Gregg Popovich to come up with an idea that keeps his rookie churning out on both ends of the floor. But safe to say this matchup will be interesting.
