Ben Simmons has been subjected to a lot of criticism over the course of the NBA season. Simmons has been away from the NBA since the end of the last season. And even after getting traded from the 76ers to the Nets, he has failed to step up and play. Simmons was slammed recently for not playing in playoffs for the Nets, despite that being the original plan. And now, an old Tweet from him has resurfaced, giving fans more ammunition.
An old Ben Simmons Tweet from the 2020 NBA playoffs has resurfaced. The post came immediately after Simmons, who was with the 76ers at the time, had been swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round in the NBA bubble. Simmons noted that watching his team get swept was a feeling he did not like, and never wanted to experience in his career again, to which a Nets fan replied that he should join their team, and it would not happen again if he did.

NBA fans had a field day with this old post resurfacing, with many pointing out the hilarious fact that the exact same thing happened again; Simmons’ team got swept in the first round by the Celtics while he just sat and watched. There were others who remarked that the 76ers got the better end of the deal in the trade.
And he just watched…. 🤷🏾♂️ 🤦🏾♂️

Clearly, most NBA fans don’t have any sympathy for Simmons in this situation. His stock has fallen quite a lot over the last year, and he is no longer looked at as the elite prospect and player he once was. And considering the circumstances the Nets went out under, with their defense being one of the key reasons they lost, Simmons will have a tough time winning over Brooklyn fans next season after sitting out.
The Nets will now be focused on trying to get their affairs in order ahead of the next season. This offseason will be crucial for the Nets, as they try to assemble a better team next to Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the latter recently confirming that he plans to sign a long-term extension with the franchise. This will be a big summer for the Nets.
