Kevin Durant’s trade request has dominated the news cycle this summer, and there’s no doubt that there have been many reports about the situation between him and the Brooklyn Nets.

The most recent update on the situation was provided by Shams Charania, who revealed that Kevin Durant had asked the franchise and governor Joe Tsai to pick between him or GM Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash.

“In a face-to-face meeting with Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai over the weekend, All-NBA star Kevin Durant reiterated his trade request and informed Tsai that he needs to choose between Durant or the pairing of general manager Sean Marks and coach Steve Nash, sources tell The Athletic.

A report by Steve Bulpett of Heavy.com shared the words of a “league source” who said it’s “hard to see” the Nets acquiesce to Kevin Durant’s demands, as it “would look really bad for them”.

“At this point, it’s hard to see Brooklyn caving to KD on Steve and Sean,” said a league source. “That would look really bad for them. I could definitely see them coming down a bit from all the stuff they’re asking for in a trade, but the people I’m talking to around the league think they might just wait things out. They’re in a [expletive] situation, and they still have to deal with Kyrie. But for right now, they’re holding the cards.”

It remains to be seen how this situation will end up developing. It is clear that both sides are steadfast in the approach they have taken, and perhaps the standoff between Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets could even go into training camp.

Hopefully, though, we see Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets work out a solution that ends up with him staying or getting traded to a good situation. However, there is a lot of work to be done on both ends to achieve that.
