The Los Angeles Lakers registered back-to-back victories and both games went to overtime. With LeBron James out of the lineup, these wins are crucial for the team in the longer run.

In their most recent victory against the Miami Heat, it was Russell Westbrook, Anthony Davis, and Malik Monk who helped the team register their seventh win of the season.

Westbrook played a crucial role in the win as he knocked down a few clutch shots when the Lakers needed to. He recorded yet another triple-double. After the final buzzer, Russ’ stat line had 25 points, 12 rebounds, and 14 assists. Brodie might have done well in the game, but there is still one glaring error in his game.

Despite a strong performance, Russ had 8 turnovers to his name. If the Lakers had lost the game, it could have further weakened the fans’ trust in Russ.

After the game, Anthony Davis joked about Westbrook’s turnovers as he was relieved that Russ missed a quadruple double.

“We had a conversation about what he wants to see from us so we can help him cut down the turnovers. We talked about it, & it showed tonight. I say that, & he got 8. But at least it wasn’t – he had a triple double, not a quadruple double”

As Davis hilariously mentioned, he is happy that Westbrook didn’t record two more turnovers to make things worse for him.

Moving forward, fans would expect Russ to perform like he did today. Of course, minus the turnovers. If he can do that, it will be really helpful to the Lakers in competing for the 2022 NBA championship.

Speaking of Westbrook’s performance so far this year. He is averaging 19.3 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.9 assists. While these stats look great, his shooting numbers are a real concern. He is currently shooting 41.6% from the field and 28.0% from the three-point line.

Lastly, the Lakers guard is turning the ball over 5.3 times a game. Keeping everything in mind, there are obvious pros and cons of having Westbrook on the team. It will all work well if the pros outweigh the cons, which happened in the game against the Miami Heat.
