The Los Angeles Lakers are entering a 2022-23 NBA season full of challenges for them. After crashing in the 2021-22 campaign, the Purple and Gold have a lot of questions to answer, especially regarding their Big 3 of LeBron James, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook.

The addition of Patrick Beverley apparently would make things harder for the team, but so far, the defensive specialist and his former nemesis Russell Westbrook are getting along just fine. Meanwhile, people are still finding reasons why this team will fail this upcoming campaign, and that’s just motivating the Lakers.

Anthony Davis is returning after missing a lot of games last season and seems to be ready to go under the new management of Darvin Ham. After a terrible season, the Lakers aren’t anybody’s favorite to win the title, and Davis is well aware of that.

Anthony Davis Says The Los Angeles Lakers Are The Underdogs This Season

During the team’s media day, The Brow opened up on the expectations and responsibilities for the upcoming season. Davis claimed that they have a lot to prove after missing the playoffs last year, even calling the Lakers ‘the underdogs’ of the season.

“We’re treating this season like we have a chip on our shoulder. We’re the underdogs,” Davis told ESPN during the team’s annual media day on Monday. “Obviously, the world is looking to see what we do. But … they’re not talking about us, and that’s fine. You know, we’d rather be under the radar.”

AD is ready to prove doubters wrong, saying he’ll approach this season as he did when he first was traded to Los Angeles. That season, the Lakers won the championship, so this promise could be a good thing for the 17-time NBA champions.

“Be more aggressive,” Davis told ESPN. “I started getting in my own head a lot last year. I don’t think a lot of people know that … Just knowing how much better I could have been.”

Everybody in Lakers Nation hopes to see AD back in his best version. Injuries have been ruthless with him in the past two seasons and now it’s time for him to show that he’s ready to go and destroy rivals as he did in the infamous Orlando bubble. Not many people think the Lakers can do something good this campaign, but if Darvin Ham can find the right spots for his players, we could see the Purple and Gold at least making the second round of the postseason.
