The Minnesota Timberwolves have defeated the Memphis Grizzlies in their first game of the playoffs, and this was certainly a great way for the team to kickstart their playoff campaign.

Anthony Edwards had a ridiculous 36-point performance today, and there’s no doubt that he’s establishing himself as a star in this league. After the game, Edwards was asked if he feels any extra motivation when playing Ja Morant or the Memphis Grizzlies. Anthony Edwards revealed that he actually draws motivation from the trash talk from Memphis fans, claiming that even children trash-talked him at the game

I think Memphis fans ignite my game. They talk so much trash. Even the kids. The kids was the worst today. Like, little kids. He was, 8 years old, 10 years old. “Anthony go sit down, you suck”.

I’m coming out to have fun and impact winning. Whatever the crowd gonna do, they’re gonna do. I ain’t gonna get into it though.

Not a lot of people expected the Minnesota Timberwolves to upset the Memphis Grizzlies at home today. However, the Timberwolves have clearly thrown the first punch in the series, and it will be up to the Grizzlies to respond. The Timberwolves aren’t a team that is easy to beat though, and their star trio of Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns, and D’Angelo Russell will be difficult to contain.

With that being said, the Memphis Grizzlies are led by point guard Ja Morant and are a good team. They have beat other good teams in the regular season, which is generally a good sign for the playoffs. They were viewed as contenders this season, and some even have the Memphis Grizzlies making the NBA Finals. The series between the Grizzlies and the Timberwolves is definitely shaping up as an exciting one tho, and it remains to be seen who will come out on top.
