Ben Simmons is finally ready to make his long-awaited debut with the Brooklyn Nets. The talented point guard didn’t play a single game last season with the Brooklynites due to a back injury. He underwent surgery and now everything appears to be ready for the Australian.
Simmons is ready to prove doubters wrong and the Nets can’t wait to see what he’s bringing to the table. After a tumultuous exit from the Philadelphia 76ers, Ben is getting ready to get his revenge and show that he can actually help a team compete for the NBA championship.
That’s why he vowed to attempt more 3-pointers this upcoming season, something he was criticized for by a lot of people. It seems like he’s willing to do whatever it takes to help the Nets win, even if that means becoming the defender of the paint for Steve Nash’s teams.
Ben Simmons Is Willing To Be A Center For Nets
On Tuesday afternoon, Steve Nash talked about his expectations for Simmons, saying that he can play at center for the Nets given his versatility.
“He can play point guard, he can play center, very versatile player,” Nash said, via NJ.com.
Simmons has echoed those comments today, claiming that he loves to play at center and won’t mind doing so for the Nets this upcoming season.
“I love playing the 5, I don’t mind,” he said Wednesday.
Simmons is making promises in recent days. Before media day, he spoke to JJ Redick about his expectations for the 2022-23 season, claiming that he’s ready to start taking more shots than he took in Philly.
“Yeah, I need to,” Simmons said. “I need to just go out there and put some up. F—in 20 3s a game,” Simmons said, now clearly joking. “Kevin’s wide open — nope!”
Ben is entering a season where he and his team will have huge pressure on their shoulders. He’s well aware of that, but nothing is stopping Simmons from making an impact on the Nets, although many people still doubt that he can turn things around after his rocky departure from the Sixers.
