The Philadelphia 76ers and Ben Simmons are pretty much done with each other, or at least, so it seems.
Daryl Morey is reportedly fielding calls for the former first-overall pick and even engaged with the Indiana Pacers on a potential move involving Caris LeVert:
“League sources confirm that the Pacers are among the teams who have talked to the Philadelphia 76ers about a potential Simmons trade. Caris LeVert was among the players brought up in those communications, per SNY sources. It is unknown if talks between Philadelphia and Indiana have progressed beyond run-of-the-mill contact,” reported Ian Begley.
Simmons, on the other hand, is also looking forward to leaving the City of Brotherly Love as soon as he can.
As a matter of fact, he just listed his incredible Ritz-Carlton residence in Philadelphia for a whopping $3.1 million, according to Sideline Sources.
Simmons also owns another home in the Moorestown area. Nonetheless, reports claim that he doesn’t intend to show his face in Philadelphia ever again after how things have unfolded recently.
Philadelphia 76ers fans are some of the toughest in the world and they’re not going to let this go any time soon, so we can’t blame him for wanting to get out of here as soon as possible.
Nonetheless, it seems like this situation isn’t going to end any time soon.
Simmons’ camp is now looking to get some of the money he’s lost in fines back. That’s not likely to happen:
“In the event Simmons skips all four of the 76ers’ preseason games, Simmons will lose roughly $1.4 million in fines. If he’s traded, for example, on Nov. 19 — a month into the regular season — he will lose roughly $7.2 million in salary.
This is not money Simmons can get back in the event Philadelphia eventually accedes to his wish to be traded,” said Bobby Marks of ESPN.
There’s a lot of uncertainty and some believe that Simmons won’t give up that much money and he’ll have to show up eventually.
But, even if he comes back for a couple of months, he’s already moved on from the city and this shows it.
