The NBA playoffs haven’t started yet, but basketball expert Bill Simmons is sure Phoenix will be one of the last teams standing.

On his podcast with Ryen Russillo, Simmons explained why the Suns, who have the best record in basketball, are destined for prosperity for this postseason.

“They are so lights out, unbelievable at the end of games. In a weird way, I think they’re gonna be a better playoff team than a regular-season team. I mapped out a big bracket and I was trying to figure out what’s Phoenix record going to be going into the Finals. That’s how confident I am they’re going to make it to the Finals. Will they have two losses? Round 1 it’s gonna be New Orleans or the Clippers… they’re sweeping either of those teams. Then you go to the next round and they’re gonna play the 4-5, which is Dallas/Utah. Dallas might win one. They’re gonna be better. Everything slows down and that’s like the greatest thing ever for Phoenix.

[Chris] Paul knows his team. He’s like an F1 driver, he knows his team, knows his pit crew. And they have Booker who is basically Kobe-lite at this point.”

The Suns have been dominant all season long. With a 64-18 record, they finished way above any other team in the league and 8 games above the 2nd place Warriors.

And while we have already noted how dangerous the team is, not everyone is convinced and it’s why the Suns haven’t gotten the same level of respect as other contenders.

“They ain’t got nobody that scares you,” Shaq said on the Big Podcast. “Listen, Phoenix is like Utah to me. Got a lot of good players, but some of those players can be punked now, Michelle, I’m just saying.”

They made the Finals in 2021, only to fall short against Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks.

This year, they have the chance to right that wrong and stick it to all the haters who have been doubting their potential. For now, they just have to focus on their upcoming matchup against whoever their first-round opponent will be.
