Bill Simmons Says The Warriors Could Trade For Domantas Sabonis Or Myles Turner

The Golden State Warriors are one of the hottest teams in the NBA right now besides the inspired Phoenix Suns. The Dubs are having a terrific start to the 2021/22 NBA season, boasting a 15-2 record to sit atop of the Western Conference standings.

They have a great team that is already making a lot of noise in the league and are waiting for two other pieces to land in the Bay. James Wiseman and Klay Thompson’s returns look closer by the day, which only makes Warriors fans dream about their team’s chances to win it all next year.

Moreover, they could make some moves in the trade market. Recently, analyst Bill Simmons explained that Steve Kerr’s team could take a look at the Eastern Conference and land a big man that will boost their level.

Talking with Marcus Thompson on The Bill Simmons podcast, the former ESPN analyst said the Warriors have a big business opportunity with either Myles Turner or Domantas Sabonis.

“There’s one team that I think would be an interesting fit—and look at me, I’m going to start trade rumors,” Simmons said. “I have been watching an Indiana team that doesn’t really make sense together and it does seem like Turner or Sabonis will be a thing. I was thinking about Sabonis on this Golden State team and how interesting that would be. I was also thinking about Turner on this Golden State team and how interesting that would be.”

Even though they have James Wiseman coming soon, Simmons doesn’t see with bad eyes that Golden State makes a move for one of the Indiana Pacers’ twin towers.

“It’s like, all right,” Simmons said, “if Wiseman’s on the table but I’m getting one of those two guys back, and I’m trying to win a title and I have a real path now, in the West, like we could be the best team in the West—my instinct would be don’t do anything. But if there’s a Sabonis play because of his hoops IQ and just how I think he would fit in with that, I think they would have to explore that. That would be the ONE guy.”

Either player would be huge for the Warriors. Turner is a very good defender who can space the floor. Sabonis is somehow a similar version of Draymond Green, as he can assist his teammates, but can score better than the 2017 Defensive Player of the Year.

Still, the Warriors have an up-and-coming talent in Wiseman, and perhaps adding one of these guys would ruin his development. Nothing points out that the Warriors are interested in another big man, but Simmons has a big option if they decide to make a move.
