LaMarcus Aldridge was ready to compete for the 2021 NBA title with the Brooklyn Nets after being bought out by the San Antonio Spurs. The veteran big man was one of the biggest additions in the buyout market but it seems like his tenure with the Nets is coming to an abrupt end.
After being sidelined in the past couple of games for the Nets, Aldridge announced his retirement with a post, revealing that he is dealing with an irregular heartbeat. He took to social media to share a statement, telling the bad news to people.

“My last game, I played while dealing with an irregular heartbeat. Later on that night, my rhythm got even worse which really worried me even more.
The next morning, I told the team what was going on and they were great getting me to the hospital and getting me checked out. Though I a better now, what I felt with my heat that night was still one of the scariest things I’ve experienced.
With that being said, I’ve made the difficult decision to retire from the NBA. For 15 years, I’ve put basketball first, and now, it is time to put my health and my family first.”
Having played in three teams in the league, the Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, and Brooklyn Nets, Aldridge was a 7x All-Star and a 5x All-NBA. He finishes his career recording 19.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, shooting 49.1% from the field and 81.1% at the free-throw line.
