With the Blazers desperate to improve their roster, CJ McCollum may be the one to become collateral damage for what was an immensely disappointing campaign.

Damian Lillard isn’t getting any older, and the partnership between him and CJ hasn’t yet yielded the desired results after years of trying.

So, with the rumor mill buzzing about a potential CJ trade, the Portland guard responded to the noise, keeping his cool and leaving the status of his future up in the air.

“I came from nothin. To more than something. I work hard, show up and do my job to the best of my ability. Everyone has a right to their own opinion. Even if that means they want to see me traded. It’s a part of life when you play this sport. Blessings,” McCollum wrote.

It’s a pretty respectable response from CJ. Most other stars would clap back at the haters or clown anyone who dares to speak ill of their name. And while nobody is speaking ill of CJ, not everyone takes kindly to having their name be in the center of trade rumors.

But McCollum is focused on what he can control, and where he ends up at this point is entirely out of his hands.

He’s just happy to be in his position and focused on being thankful for the blessings he has received.
