Draymond Green is a natural-born leader, and he’s putting those skills to good use in Golden State. As a passionate veteran and core member of the Warriors, Draymond is among the loudest voices in the locker room.
Recently, the 4x All-Star spoke about leadership and explained how to hold himself, and others, accountable:
“I think accountability in life is important in anything, not just basketball,” Green said. “As a leader, one thing I hate is leaders who when everything is good, it’s all up… And when stuff hits the fan, it’s everybody else fault. For me, I understand that ultimately, if I play well, we win. If I don’t, we still can, but if I do, we win. So that falls on me and like I said, you have to accept your role in things and have some accountability or none of this works… I can’t hold anyone else for that matter accountable if I can’t look at the mirror and hold myself accountable.”

Draymond isn’t your average player. He’s a two-way star who acts as an emotional leader, tone-setter, and decision-maker for his team.
It really is no surprise that he is at his best again right as the Warriors make their return to greatness. Then again, according to Green, the Warriors’ dynasty never died anyway:
“I’m going to tell you going to these NBA Finals and possibly winning a championship,” said Green. “I think it only helps, but the dynasty was intact before this. Like this doesn’t stamp the dynasty, the dynasty been stamped and it’s just continuing to get better and better. But by no means does this stamp Steph Curry or Klay Thompson or myself or whoever. We’ve been doing this and yes, it’s great to be back in this position. But I know people be needing stuff to talk about, but this doesn’t decide or you know like all of a sudden now like ‘Oh yeah this is a dynasty,’ nah stop it. We’ve been a dynasty, and so I also wanted to acknowledge that.”
Thanks to a star-studded roster, that includes Draymond, the Warriors are back in the Finals with a chance to go home as champions.
It remains to be seen how it ends for them this year, but there is a sense they have enough to go all the way. At the very least, Draymond’s leadership gives them a real chance to win.
