Dwyane Wade Explains Stephen Curry’s Biggest Strength Besides Shooting

3 Min Read

Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade is in quarantine, as well as NBA players, but the 3x NBA champion has taken this time to be more active on social media, appearing on Instagram live during the week. Flash discussed a lot of topics related to the association and the current situations going one, also speaking about players with his wife, Gabrielle Union.

He had the chance to talk about Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, praising the 2x NBA MVP for his game and revealing what makes Steph such a special player. He mentioned his shooting but also talked about how the point guard is always running through the court and his ability to play without the ball in his hands.

“So everybody talks about, obviously Steph can shoot,” Union said. “I mean, Steph is … Steph Curry is one of those people, everything you imagine Steph Curry is, he actually is in real life.”

Then Wade continued, going further about Steph’s quality on the hardwood.

“He is the nicest person in the world,” Wade said. “But one of Steph’s greatest strengths that a lot of people … some people, but a lot of people don’t because they talk about all the threes and ball-handling is Steph never stops moving off the ball. You guys see when Steph gives the ball up, that’s when he’s his most dangerous. And that’s crazy to think, right? Because when he has the ball, he’s unguardable.

“But when he does not have the ball, forget about it. He’s like Rip Hamilton and Ray Allen, those guys when it comes to conditioning and shape that he’s in and the way he’s able to run. That’s when he gets scary, when he gives the ball up.”

There is no doubt that Curry is the best shooter of all time, but there are more facets of his game that often get unnoticed or don’t get as much credit as others. Wade pointed out those factors, which have made Steph the huge star he is right now.

After missing a big chunk of the season, Steph is ready to take his Warriors to the top next year alongside Klay Thompson and company. Plenty of people believe Curry is already one of the best players ever, and he still has a lot in the tank. He still has things to add to his resume, so we’ll see how things will be once he decides to retire.
