When we’re little, we always dream of becoming an astronaut or becoming a President. For millions of young basketball fans out there, they dream of becoming pro-basketball players.

In the case of Kyrie Irving, his dreams became an actual reality.

Since the time his dad started taking him to Nets games, he knew he wanted to be in the NBA.

“I went home and wrote it down on my sheet rock in my closet: I’m going to the NBA,” Kyrie Irving said on an IG live session. “I wrote that down in fourth grade. It was kind of predestined at this point I believe.”

That dream came true in 2011 when he was drafted first overall by the Cleveland Cavaliers. He quickly became a shining star in the NBA and has a lot to show for his eight-year career as a ballplayer. Averaged 22 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.7 rebounds, he has made 6 All-Star teams, 2 All-NBA teams, and became an NBA Champion with the Cavs in 2016.

Just a few seasons later, Kyrie would find himself playing for the very team he watched with his Dad so many years ago. And while the Nets have a long way to go if they want to secure their first-ever NBA Championship. But Kyrie, who is in the middle of living out his childhood dream, is going to be a part of it.

And for that to even be possible speaks volumes to how much work, dedication, and passion he put towards the game of basketball.
