Anthony Davis has officially turned the page on his Los Angeles chapter. The former Los Angeles Lakers star, now a member of the Dallas Mavericks, has listed his sprawling Bel Air Crest mansion for a jaw-dropping $39.9 million

The move, while expected by some after his blockbuster trade in February, marks a definitive step away from the city where he spent five rollercoaster years and won the 2020 NBA championship.

The property is no ordinary home. Situated in one of the most exclusive gated communities in Los Angeles, the 17,254-square-foot estate sits atop over 3.5 acres of land. Davis’s mansion is the very definition of luxury, boasting eight bedrooms and 12 bathrooms.

Inside, the home features a private elevator, a full movie theater, a game room with a wet bar, a wine cellar, a home gym, a barber shop, and a separate lounge area. It even includes a children’s playhouse fitted with HVAC, likely a thoughtful addition for his daughter, Nala.

The outdoor amenities read like something from a five-star resort: an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a full tennis court with lighting, private cabanas, multiple fire pits, a state-of-the-art outdoor chef’s kitchen, and a batting cage. Add in a wellness center with a plunge tub and sauna, and it becomes clear this isn’t just a home, it’s a sanctuary.

The timing of the listing has raised eyebrows. Davis posted a cryptic Instagram Story shortly after the announcement, a blank black screen with a sad face and praying hands emojis.

While fans scrambled to decipher the message, some speculated it could reflect his bittersweet farewell to Los Angeles or frustration over his current recovery status. Davis recently underwent eye surgery to repair a detached retina, the latest in a long string of injuries that plagued his 2024–25 campaign.

The trade that sent Davis to Dallas was seismic. He was dealt along with Max Christie and the Lakers’ 2029 first-round pick in a multi-team deal that saw Luka Doncic head to Los Angeles. Despite hopes of a fresh start in Dallas, Davis’s season was marred by injuries, including a midseason adductor strain, before he eventually required eye surgery.

While rumors had suggested Davis might try to find his way back to Los Angeles someday, listing his Bel Air estate seems to shut the door on that narrative for now. With the Mavericks building a core around Davis, Kyrie Irving, Klay Thompson, and top rookie Cooper Flagg, it’s clear the organization sees him as a foundational piece moving forward.

His departure from L.A. marks the end of a complicated legacy, one filled with towering highs, frustrating lows, and constant questions about his durability.

But off the court, the sale of his mansion suggests clarity: Anthony Davis is moving on, planting his roots in Dallas, and leaving behind the city he once ruled. Whether or not his cryptic posts tell us how he really feels, one thing is certain, he’s no longer a resident of Los Angeles.
