Former Chicago Bulls big man and three-time NBA champion Stacey King did not hold back when discussing LeBron James and Kevin Durant’s recent comments on the Mind the Game podcast. Speaking on The Basketball Show, King sarcastically dubbed it the ‘Cry Me a River Podcast,’ claiming that all-time greats shouldn’t have to constantly remind people of their greatness.
“What’s it called? Cry Me a River? Cry Me a River podcast? Oh my God. I tell you what, man. Great players don’t have to tell people they’re great. You let fans do that. You let people debate it on talk radio and podcasts. Players don’t have to do that.”
“We all know you’re great, you don’t have to tell us. When you start going around trumpeting that you’re great and pointing out what separates you from everyone else, that’s a problem. That’s why I call it the Cry Me a River podcast, because you’re just crying and moaning about what they said.”
“And if you really listen between the lines, they were sneak-dissing MJ. Kevin Durant was talking about how longevity is more important than rings, saying being in the league for 20-plus years shows dedication and hard work.”
“But he failed to mention the load management, and the fact that in his entire career, he’s only played 82 games three times. And LeBron? He’s only done it once.”
The former Bulls center didn’t stop there. He criticized Durant’s playoff resume since leaving the Golden State Warriors, saying KD hasn’t proven he can win without Stephen Curry. King called out Durant’s failed runs with the Brooklyn Nets and Phoenix Suns, framing them as missed opportunities for a player often hailed as one of the most unstoppable scorers in league history.
