While the Golden State Warriors may be struggling this season, there was a time when they were the most unstoppable team in basketball. In fact, over a four-year stretch, the Dubs pretty much ran the league en route to achieving unprecedented success.

For most fans and experts, that era was an absolute joy to behold. But for the players who had to go up against those guys, it wasn’t nearly as fun.

Speaking to Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala, former NBA swingman Evan Turner described the Warriors dynasty with Kevin Durant as lame and unfair.

Here’s what he said:

“Y’all won a lot of championships but it was lame as f–k,” said Turner. “For four or five years there was a media run and there was a hype train of a franchise running through, which were the Warriors. And that was KD doing that. There was just certain points where it just seemed unfair. We’re not knocking it, to each their own, but at the same time I’m still playing against Andre Iguodala, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and whoever else. That’s like playing against MJ fool. It still don’t make no sense. it doesn’t justify anything. Y’all won a lot of championships but it was lame as f–k.”

Looking back on those Kevin Durant Warriors teams, there’s no denying that it was a bit unfair. At the time, the Warriors had two of the top three players in the game on the same team, and they were surrounded with a pair of the best two-way players in the game in Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.

Today, the Warriors aren’t nearly as overpowered as they used to be, but it doesn’t mean that can’t get there.

Will Kevin Durant Ever Return To The Warriors?

Kevin Durant left the franchise after the 2019 Finals and chose to sign with the Brooklyn Nets instead. But now, there are rumblings that he may be considering a return to San Francisco.

“They didn’t come into the season aiming to rebuild,” said Stephen A. Smith on the Warriors. “They expected Klay to be better. They expected Wiseman to be ready. They expected Moody and Kuminga to be ready. So now that we see there are some question marks about that, it’s a legitimate question to ask now. Their attitude was ‘we are the reigning, defending, champions and we believe we got a chance to repeat with our squad. They believed in their squad. Now if you have changed and no longer believe in some of those young guys, go ahead and make the trade for Kevin Durant. Go ahead and make the trade for Kevin Durant because you can’t waste the greatness of Steph Curry. If you don’t believe these young brothers can be ready to help you repeat, make a move.”

The Warriors are still holding out hope on their collection of young guys, but it remains to be seen if they have what it takes to step up and deliver on their end of the bargain.

It’s certainly not a position the Warriors are used to being in, but the fact that they’re still relevant after all those years of greatness says a lot about their resolve as a unit.
